Bouncyrock releases are free, so there's no obligation to send money this way. But after many questions about donations, I'm putting up a paypal button. It could help with keeping the website running.

After an uphill struggle of phone calls between UPS and Tigerdirect, the card has finally arrived at my new apt and the Monitor once again shines with the light of the NWN2 Toolset!

So I’m back to work – running through the lists of reported bugs.  The feedback from the testers has been pure awesome – their efforts will make this a much more polished experience for the players.  And seeing how I missed the Halloween release date by a mile, and Dragon Age is taking up most of the audience for the time being, I’m going to take my time and make sure I get it right.

Also, the DA:O pre-order arrived and I’ve been having quite a good time with it.  If you’re reading this blog, you most likely have already started playing it before I did, so  I’m sure you’re having a great time as well.

The only thing I’m having trouble with is some of the “un”natural areas.  For as much as they poured into this game, I was expecting more from the exterior terrains I’ve seen so far.  Does it bother me THAT bad?  Well, not yet… I hope they improve as the game progresses.

I tried opening the toolset, but quickly closed it after seeing the big blank screen surrounded by all those new buttons! :P

Unfortunately it doesnt. All their exteriors are bland and brown except the village Shale is in, but then it just looks weird.

The interiors are nice though. Orzommar is pretty awesome.

I love the Tower of Ishal!

I’m bothered by the appearance of the terrain areas more as a builder than I am as a player. I just hope the terrain tools can output something that can keep up to the quality of the rest of the game’s art.

The biggest thing that stuck out for me was the Trees. I guess that’s what expansions are for. Either way, I still love the game – haven’t played a story like this since… can’t remember when!

I’ve mixed feelings about the overall art. It sometimes feels cartoonish and flat. The exterior are catastrophic compared for example with your own NWN2 screen shots. The terrain are too dynamic and extreme like it was sculptured out of thin potato mash. And don’t mention the grass and the trees. But it doesn’t really matter from a players view. I love playing this game it’s a pretty cool fantasy story with a twist. I like the more mature attitude and the darker parts. Most of all I like all efforts BW has put into this universe’s background. …and Morrigan is really my kind of girl… or was when I was young and didn’t know better.

Yes, that dragon age toolset is scary and unwieldy. And no overland map. You really should stick with the nice cozy NWN2-SoZ toolset.

Now if we could only get some of those fighting animations into NWN2.

Funny thing is, from a graphics point of view, NWN2 graphics look crisper, higher resolution. I’ve had fun with DAO but am glad it isn’t so good as to prevent me to come back to NWN2 when I’ve played the OC. The production value of the voices, story, and lore is what sells it.

For community mods, I think I’ll stick with NWN2 and will definitely be coming back to Misery stone as one of the feature, story, and graphical contenders to DAO.

Thanks Foil! After playing DA:O a bit though, I can safely say that it doesn’t come within the distance of our sun as far as story goes. But that’s good because I paid top dollar for it, lol!
